Cookies

If you leave a comment on this site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. I capture this for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If (when) I setup a login page that you visit, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you do log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

User Comments

If you leave comments on this site, I will collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help me in spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to this website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, because other visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

You can also request that I erase any personal information I hold about you. This does not include any data that I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Please note that visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How your fields help us make better reports

This section applies to drone companies, growers and agronomists who subscribe to KADS Field Utilities, and to everyone who uses the KADS Flight Planner. If you only visit this website, it does not apply to you.

Every field teaches us something. A row of soybeans that reads clean on one farm and a waterhemp patch that fools the weed search on another are both lessons, and the only way to learn them is to look.

So here is what we look at, and what we don’t.

What KADS reads. When a report is made on a field, our processing sends KADS a few numbers about how well its own tools did. Today that means the row check of the weed search: how evenly the crop rows line up on clean crop, and how they line up inside the weed patches someone marked. These are measurements of our software, not of your farm’s business. They carry no photographs. We read them from every drone company’s fields, because a tool tuned on one farm’s ground is a tool tuned for one farm.

From the Flight Planner. When you use the planner signed in to kads.tech, it sends us what it needs to do its job: the fields and boundaries you draw, your drones’ verification flight readings, and the spray days you ask it to plan. KADS may read those too, for the same reason: to make the planner’s numbers better for everyone who flies.

Why. If we can see where a setting is too tight or too loose across many fields, then we can set it better for everyone. That is the whole purpose.

Who sees them. KADS staff only. Your grower, your drone company and your agronomist see the same weed patches they always would on their own fields. No other drone company, grower or agronomist sees your numbers, and we don’t sell or hand them to anyone.

What stays the same. Everything that belongs to a drone company, a grower or an agronomist is kept from everyone else unless you, or your drone company, grant it. Imagery processed on your own computer stays on your own computer.

If we ever want to read something more than this, we will say so here first.
