Innovative Drone Solutions
Empowering farmers through drone technology… providing “Help from above”
The KADS Mission Statement
Dedicated to helping farmers through the use of drone technology.
My goals for KADS are very simple:
- Increase crop yield.
- Reduce crop losses.
- Increase soil health.
- Help farmers to succeed.
Why Partner with KADS?
There are several good folks selling drones or offering agricultural drone services in Northeast Kansas. Why should you consider working with me?
Skin in the game
I am responsible for my legacy family farm in Doniphan County, Kansas. I use the same systems on our own land. I tend to avoid unnecessary risk and apply only those techniques that are proven successful in other places, first.
Independent
I am not an implement, seed, or chemical dealer. I may work with those folks from time to time, but I am completely independent from them. I don’t have to suggest that you buy a specifc service or implement from ‘the other side’ of my business to make some internal sales quota. I am in this as a partnership with you. I will only recommend those things I believe will help you.
Good Fit
I am comfortable with one foot in the world of agriculture while keeping the other planted in the world of technology. I learn important new things every day and share those new ideas with my clients.
Customized Services
Every farmer is different. Every operation is different. I strive to learn the land, the crop(s), the operation, and the needs of each producer and work in partnership to develop a workable approach that will make a difference. The solution could be aerial scouting, aerial spraying, sale of a drone, review of your existing drone operations, or maybe just visiting over the fence. Ensuring you find value in our time together is the highest priority to me.
My Commitment to Farmers
I will be your aerial analyst, your coach, your advocate, and your partner. I will communicate clearly with you; I will return every call; I will always perform in your best interest.
Mike Bahr’s Story
I was born near Milwaukee, WI in 1966. I grew up with several siblings and parents that reinforced in us that we had a duty to push ourselves and to always seek new ideas, we had a duty to care for the earth, and we had a duty to help others less fortunate than us. These beliefs continue to guide me, even today.
I had many opportunies to learn about science from my Dad, John Bahr. We often created odd machines or chemistry trials when we were bored. Our basement and yard was often littered with the remains of homemade balsa planes, homemade rockets, electronics, radioactive ore, mercury, gas and electric motors, and remote-control helicopters. When I was nine, Dad announced he would make a computer to support his PhD experiments. I learned how to program when I was ten. Technology has been an ongoing focus for me ever since.
I gained my bachelor’s degree from the Milwauikee campus of the University of Wisconsin in 1989 and married the same year. We raised three children in a Milwaukee suburb. I became a licensed architect and worked at several firms for nearly 35 years, helping clients on many notable projects across the country, including the design and construction of the original MCI campus and the reroofing of the Kemper Arena in KC!
I retired from architecture in 2024 after having been a partner in a fantastic firm staffed with many talented professionals. Throughout my career I was a ‘generalist’ helping clients across many different industries, but I typically focused on master planning and on municipal or educational projects – those that are “for the people, by the people.” I finished my career in charge of the firm’s marketing, business development, and growth planning. It was fantastically challenging and rewarding.
My grandfather, Morris Bahr, one day laid his eyes on some farmland. He soon won an auction for a tract in the Missouri River Bottoms near White Cloud, KS. He found local farmers to sharecrop that land and he helped to create a Drainage District and a large levee. He transitioned responsibility to his sons John and Don Bahr in the late 1960’s. John Bahr worked with the local farmers from that time until the mid-2000’s with assistance from Don. I started making annual trips to the farm with Dad starting in the late 1980’s and formally stepped in to replace Dad when he was ready for the transition. I’m the third generation of the Bahr family responsible for that farmland.
I relocated from Wisconsin to Hiawatha, KS during a crazy snowstorm in February of 2025. I brought a drone with me that includes multispectral cameras and soon assembled a computer capable of creating orthomosaics using several thousand drone photos and creating custom crop indexes analyzing plant health. I monitored nearly 8,000 acres throughout the 2025 growing season and flew more than 4,200 miles!
I decided to expand services with a spray drone during the 2025 fungicide season. As I researched options, I decided to really put my money where my mouth was and also become a dealer for Terraplex selling the Revolution Drones line of equipment.
I look forward to hearing from you!
